Yaseen Solomon
Al-Azhar University · Bachelor of Islamic Law · B.Ed Arabic · UCT Honours, Curriculum Specialisation
Yaseen Solomon was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, surrounded by Arabic from his earliest years. He returned to South Africa for high school, then travelled to Cairo to complete his Islamic secondary education at the historic Al-Azhar Institute.
He went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Islamic Law from Al-Azhar University — one of the oldest and most respected Islamic institutions in the world, founded in 970 CE.
Driven by a passion for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, Yaseen returned to South Africa and earned a Bachelor of Education from UNISA, specialising in Arabic and Geography, followed by an Honours degree in Curriculum Specialisation from the University of Cape Town.
He has taught Arabic reading to hundreds of students — from children just starting their journey with the Qur’an, to adult professionals reading Arabic for the first time, to reverts approaching the language as a doorway to their new faith.
This site, and the book it accompanies, is the distilled curriculum of years of teaching, refined into a 30-day path that meets you where you are.
“If you can read English, by Day 30 you’ll read Arabic.”
